The artwork in this collection shows pieces featuring poetry. Clients often commission works like these as gifts or for their homes.
This piece is a calligram—an image created with calligraphy. The background is a poem by John Donne and the fish is made up entirely of fish names. It is 8 1/2” x 11”. It is written in Italic.
This piece is 11” x 14” and is written in watercolors. The style is Modern Versals.
This piece was written with a folded pen in Ben Shahn lettering. It is 16” x 20”.

This piece was created for the Multnomah County Department of Human Services. The commission is for twelve pieces each with its own color variation. The size is 22" x 30" and the style is Humanist Bookhand.

This gallery shows wedding vows and wedding ketubot. Some of this work was used as part of the wedding ceremony, other pieces to display wedding vows afterward, often for an anniversary gift.
A common and traditional use of calligraphy is certificate work. Certificates can be created for any occasion. My work also includes filling out the information on existing certificates, such as state issued wedding certificates.
This gallery shows chalkboard style lettering work. Chalkboard lettering can be done on traditional chalkboards, walls, wood panels, or paper.

In 2013 His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to speak to a large audience in Portland, OR through the Buddhist college, Maitripa College. The Dalai Lama received an honorary degree that I was commissioned to create for him.
